THAT is a killer app !! (maybe)

After Google and MSN, Yahoo decided to launch his new webmail. It's important to say that they published all source code from this application. It's a really interesting application I think, it really represents the web 2.0 I think with full of great technical skills (AJAX is (ab)used all along the application) , sober design with quiet colors and especially... full of skills which don't work ! One of those examples is the fact that you have to log in several times during your session beacause of security, Yahoo said... It's really irritating for the navigation. Other tools don't work really good, it's not rare that you have a message which say to you that you have been disconnected!

On this point it's really less that Gmail but there is a real good point : the interface. Yahoo and MSN really entered in a new area. This one which bring closer classical software interfaces with web interfaces. when you're using Yahoo mail you wonder if you're really on the net or just on your Outlook.

Goooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllll!!!! Yes Bob I'm a big football* fan ! That's why I decided recently to work on Ligue 1 (the french football championship) club's web strategy. There will be a lot of things to say about that. Firstable you have to know that french teams have a big delay on others europeans teams in particular english clubs like Manchester or Liverpool. For example the biggest french team website (psg.fr) earns 700 000€ a year whereas www.manutd.com (Manchester United website) earns about 18 millions € a year.
It's really interestant to work on this topic because french teams website are at the moment in a big phase of mutations. Currently only informative, those websites try to become true commercial tools, profitable which can earn money. That's why they try to diversify their offers like VOD, tickets, clothes and accessories sales, webTV...To facilitate this development, clubs find partnership to reduce the costs of those services.
Next evolution ? It will follow the desires of the fans : why not follow 24 hours a day your favorite team on the webTV of the website ! That's football 2.0!!

Better courses for all

I think our courses permit to speak english for 5 minutes a course for everyone which is very much than a classical course. The problem is that during this course we read very much English but not hear.

The perfect English course would gather hearing English, talking English and and reading English.

I have an idea to make that but I’m not sure you will appreciate (and people in classrooms near us) : let’s make a karaoke !

I try to be very careful with my computer that’s why I constantly use Avast antivirus which scan permanently my PC and Kerio personal Firewall which forbid access to my computer for everyone but me.

Youtube is watching you

Youtube is a videos sharing website. It started on February 2005 and was created by 3 former employees of Paypal (an Ebay company which permits to pay something online).
Today Youtube is the 9th more consulting website with more than 30 millions connections a month but 2 weeks ago it has been owned by Google for 1.65 billions $.

It becames very popular because of the facility to put videos on the website and share them with other people. If you’re using a high broadband, the upload can take between 1 and 5 minutes it depends of the video length, but there isn’t any limit time. Another reason is that medias are sometimes interested by Youtubers life (like Star Wars Kid or lonelygirl15) and make very much advertisement for Youtube.
To my advice, the only thing which can stop Youtube is the hackers. Very much files we can find on it are illegal like mangas, music clips or movies. If Youtube doesn’t change that, they can have troubles in the future.

e-english

There are many companies (Wallstreet Institue or Rosetta)which say that they can learn you english quickly in exchange of money. I'm very perplexed about learning a language only on internet.
I think talking english as often as possible is the only way to learn correctly english. The best way to do that ?

It's sometimes really difficult to conquer the heart of a woman, and sometimes men use really strange ways.
Look at this guy Edouardo . 10 years ago he went to a french TV show and sing to find love. The result was the most ridiculous (but maybe the most sincere ?) song ever heard. I believe it's can be a right example of perseverance. Check it.

Even to create that, you need discipline. It's obligatory when you begin to program something in particular a website.
With very much discipline maybe one day you will be able to create the most important website which have never existed or one of his french competitors.

Wait a minute

The second quality fo a good english classroom is the patience. Even if technologies are progressing and broadband is more and more higher, however you need sometimes to be patient to see certain websites in particular those which need to download plugins or particular softwares.
The last example I found on the net is the french professionnal directory Pages jaunes which launched recently 3D maps of Paris and Rennes.
Check the speed of the manipulations yourself it's a bit sad because it's really interesting and everybody can't see those applications because it need very high broadband, and because it affraid some of the people to install the program.

Actually all applications that are using web should have the same access to the network.

Net neutrality (here !) also preaches politic and economic detachment and an independance of the internet.

Social networks

One of the biggest particularity of the web 2.0 is the emregence of social networks. It can be seen as a space on the web where people exchange ideas, informations or opinions about general or specific topics. In those websites, there isn't any webmasters who are publishing content on the website anymore. Net surfers do it themselves. Wikipedia is a good example with 1,426,000 articles in english published by net surfers, Youtube, Dailymotion, Flickr too with different concepts. Maybe the oldest social network is the good old Forum (like this one) as we can see in most of websites where people discuss for years.

Innovations on the web... or not

AJAX is a programming technique which mix Javascript and dynamic web languages to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, and usability. Google has rightly understand ajax benefits and is testing Google with auto completion. There are many others examples like Gmail or Mappy.

Another importation innovation in security but which is not on the web is the DRM (digital rights management), a technology that allows content owners to determine and control who and how users can view content such as media files on the Internet. Created for majors companies who were fed of music hacking.

This tool is not a very good idea, it gives bad image of majors and prevent people who are not on Windows to read those discs. It causes anger of some of interests groups and also artists and many others people !

Podwhat ?

Who doesn't know what is podcast, word of the year 2005 ?
More precisely, this "portmanteau of "IPod" and "broadcasting" has advantages like speed, spontaneous, it can also transmit easily many informations. It permits to everyone to create his own TV or radio show, then you can publish your contents by RSS or Atom feeds and hear or watch when you want your favorite swhows !
It has also disadvantages like weight of the files but especially indexing. For the moment, it's easier to find an textual information with Google than in podcasts but researchers are working on video indexing.
